If you hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree, you can apply to earn your second degree in nursing with Fairfield Egan in Austin. We admit cohorts in May and January of each year, and the program lasts 15 months.

Deadlines for degree-seeking ASDNU program applicants.
Please note that all deadlines are subject to change at any time.
- Applications for the ASDNU cohort starting on May 20, 2024, are being accepted now through March 1, 2024.
- Applications for the ASDNU cohort starting on January 21, 2025, are being accepted now through November 1, 2024
To qualify for admission, you must hold a bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited institution. You must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Additional prerequisite requirements include:
Science and Math Prerequisites
Humanities Prerequisites and General Electives
Applicants must also have completed 36 credits of general electives (12 three-credit courses).
Selected prerequisite requirements may be met through challenge exams or transfer of credit from approved academic institutions. Applicants may complete missing prerequisites at Fairfield University or any other accredited university. A final official transcript must be submitted showing final course grades before starting the ASDNU program.

Required supporting documentation includes:
- Send official school transcript to austinnursing@fairfield.edu or mail to Fairfield University to the attention of the Part-Time and Continuing Studies Admissions Department
- Applicants with international transcripts must submit a transcript evaluation by an approved evaluating service like WES
- Professional resume
- Personal statement
- Two recommendations, one of which must be from a current supervisor or professor
Note: International applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency by taking either TOEFL or IELTS exams.
